Sons First Buck Hunt

My father and I took my son deer hunting in Oregon this weekend. This was my sons first deer hunt where he was the tag holder. In the past he was always along for the ride, but this time he was packing the rifle. We hunted two days and hunted hard, we walked a long ways and only saw 8 deer Sunday and nothing yesterday. I was really proud of the little guy he never complained, whined or got upset, he was a real trooper. My son is only 9yrs old and has been going with me literaly since he was born, he use to ride in his carrier with me, then I would put him in a pack and take off with him. He only has one more day to hunt due to school and sports, I hope we can at least get him on a buck. Like I told him all you can do is hope for an oppertunity, I hope he gets one he sure has earned it. It was a great experience to be out there with my father, my son and myself. Who cares that we didn't get one it was just great to have all three of us out there together.

I wish Calif. would offer a program like Oregons Youth Mentor Program, I think it is a great oppertunity for children to gain experience and introduce them to the sport at an early age.
