I was out in the yard this morning in Eureka and this buck showed up. I was still thinking winter and was not expecting this much antler growth. I was surprised.

Talking with a long time cattle rancher yesterday.
He said that in his 40 years of ranching, he has never seen range conditions this good.
Tall & green is how he described it.
By june 1st the hills in my area are nearly always dry & brown.
These late rains have been unreal.
I haven't got serious about looking yet, but saw four nice bucks on the way home yesterday, they were further along than that one.
Found some dandy sheds this spring.
Hang on to yer hats boys & girls, wer're in for a good one.
Pics to follow....

I was out pig hunting in Sonoma County the past few weekends and been seeing some very impressive growth. Some of the younger bucks 1 year old only had forks about 8" from base to tip. Then there was the 2-3 year old bucks that had some very nice growth already. I saw a buck that was past his ears, at least 12" high and had the 3rd & 4th sprouting. With 6 more weeks to go the growth should be pretty good this year.

I have noticed a lot of triplets and twins as well so the herds in that area are doing well. At the coyotes and lions haven't got to them yet.

Those are encouraging reports and really good to hear. Let's hope things continue. Our weather forcast is for 1.5" of rain tomorrow. Kinda weird.

Over here on the east slopes of the Coast range the amount of new growth vegetation is staggering. This will be the best antler growth in many many moons. That is, if you can find a buck!

EEL you need to hook up some 220V to your apple tree...I'd be pissed IF the local's were hitting the trees already!
