mikeg44,

I have a couple of Sony DSLR's. I don't know how portable of a camera you want for hunting, but it will do the job. I have a good set up, but not the setup I dream of were money never an issue. Landscape and wildlife photography is just a hobby for me(I do make some extra cash doing sports, and portraiture). I currently use the Sony A580, which shoots 7 frames per second and is amazing at limiting noise in low light. (Nikon actually purchased the sensor in the A580 from Sony to use in the D7000)

My wildlife set up works well, but I don't have several thousands to spend on the biggest and fastest lenses. I know my equipment well and work around its limitations. I use a Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 ($699)with a teleconverter and a Tamron 200-500 f/5-6.3($899). They are cheap compared to the big and fast 500 or 600mm f/4 lenses($6000-much more). I almost always use a monopod or tripod with these lenses as they are fairly heavy.

All the big manufacturers offer fine DSLR cameras. I'm just sharing my setup. Hope it helps. Good luck.

i does help me out thank you for your info i just have a small camera im using rite now and i just want better clarity and better photos you took some amazing photos i like how you focused the deer in the back really cool i dont have the big bucks either but i should be able to save some up for a camera like you mentioned thank you agian

Very nice and great you spend time in the field with your daughter. They sure grow up fast so keep doing it.

Have a good one BB

LAST EDITED ON Jan-23-12 AT 07:38PM (MST)[p]I love the shots, even if those aren't "real" deer;-)

Looking forward to when my little ones are old enough to tag along.

Thanks for posting

I can't tell you how much I miss chasing "real" deer back in my home state of Utah. I go where Uncle Sam sends me and enjoy the wildlife I have access to :) Fun in the outdoors only gets better when the kids can come along.
