A question for those of the more expert photographers on this site.
I have a compact Canon s-100 digital camera. The F stop starts at 2.0 and the optical lens functions from 24mm to 120mm. I can achieve a dramatic shallow depth of field by keeping the lens at 24mm with the fstop at 2.0 BUT I have to be within like 12 inches of the subject.
Are there any other tips any of you might have to be able achieve that depth of field other than the way I'm doing it?
i recognize this is not the ideal tool for the job. In an ideal world I'd have a $6000 fixed f stop lens. I'm just trying to get what I can out of this little camera in this respect.
Thanks
