Winter's Arizona Finale

Winter's last few days ended with its biggest snowfall. Flagstaff was covered with about two feet of snow, and the San Francisco Peaks received close to four feet. On Sunday and Monday, I headed south from Flagstaff to Sedona and Oak Creek to enjoy the combination of white snow and red rock.

I like the low clouds that waft around the tops of the mountains. Here is the Nuns formation near the famed chapel on the rock.

Monday evening, the storm cleared to give nice evening light on Cathedral Rock. These reflections pools were quite popular as several other photographers were huddled around the small pools.

Some more trip images from the Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona area are at the end of the Sedona photo gallery.

Doug do you use either Lightroom or Photoshop for editing and do you shoot in RAW? Those are just marvelous photos of beautiful country.

TIA, Jim

Yelum and Jim, thanks.
Jim, I do shoot in RAW, adjust some in ViewNX, and use PhotoshopElements to process the tiff conversions. These two images are pretty small jpeg files at about 300kb.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-21-12 AT 09:12PM (MST)[p]Doug thanks for your quick reply.

I'm an old fart that got interested in photography in the past two years. Started with a Nikon S8100...then got a Nikon P500 and finally, this past January, decided to get a Nikon D3100 and Photoshop to make a bigger push into wildlife and scenic photography. It is like trying to pick up a foreign language when you've never really owned a camera with manual settings. Am really thankful for the online Photoshop tutorials or I would really be lost and, too, a couple of books on digital photography. Joined the Watsch Camera Club and will be attending an all day lecture by David Muench, a well known landscape photographer, this coming Saturday. Maybe some day all this will help me get some decent photos. I sure admire yours and Buglin' Billy's photos along with several others that post photos on this site. You have helped me keep the juices flowing.

Anyhow, thanks for your continued posts. I would love to emulate your skill in composition and editing techniques.

Jim
