Lense Recommendation???

I currently shoot a Nikon D7000 and I have a couple of decent lenses (Nikon 18-105MM, Nikon 70-300MM, and the Nikon 50MM)I am looking to get a good quality zoom lense that won't break the bank. I am narrowing in on the 50-500MM lense made by Sigma.

It seems to get good reviews and is in a price range I could get to realistically ($1,600).

Do any of you have any thoughts on this lense? Is it a good buy? Will I be happy with the lense quality, crispness, clarity?

Do any of you have other recopmmendations for me to consider? Is there another comparable lense that may cost a little more but would be worth it? What type of used lense would you recommend?

I would be mainly shooting wildlife and my son's Lacrosse and Football with it if that helps.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-06-12 AT 08:08AM (MST)[p]I'd look at a used Nikkor 80-400 instead. Nicer lens and a bit sharper. The Sigma really loses it at 400-500mm.

You can find peer reviewed sellers and probably the best online classifieds for professional photography equipment at fredmiranda.com. Here's a nice 80-400 that should do the trick.
