Last week, the wife, my two dogs, Oxford and Lexington, and I spent a week in Yellowstone. I just drove around and looked at and for wildlife.

Here are but a few of the many photos I took while there.

I really didn't spent much time or many shutter clicks on bison as they were everywhere. But one evening, while I pull off the highway in a pull-out, this ole bison came right up by my truck and laid down. I though he was one of the coolest bulls I saw on the whole trip, so I grabbed my hand held camera and took a few photos of him. Notice his jaw, as he way laying there chewing his cud!

Have a good one and thanks for looking and commenting. BB

Just to give some of you guys who are interested in Bison an idea, the bull I posted above moved this one out of that spot. He is half again as big as this one. I took this photo just after he got to his feet as the bull above came up through the trees behind him to claim his spot. It's hard to tell in the photo how big that first full is, but he was huge, as this is a good sized bull too, and I think good looking too.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-13-12 AT 10:06PM (MST)[p]These are some amazing pics! I really like the one of the big bull bison. The running black bear is pretty cool too.

Tony since most of the photos I place on these sites are larger than standard, I over sharpen every photo so that it can't be enlarged for those that might choose to "steal or use it" without permission. If a person contacts me, there are many images i will send them full files on, once they have ask permission.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-14-12 AT 11:26AM (MST)[p]I guess you misunderstood my attempt at humor. I was being a bit facetious, i.e. the only way you could get photos of elk in YNP would be to add them via PS or similar.

Well I can say if things keep going like they have in the past 10-12 years, it will be hard to find an elk in the park.

One of main reasons I went to Yellowstone was in hopes of photographing calf elk. I only saw two the whole time I was there with not one chance for a photo.

My wife and i honeymooned in YNP back in the early 70's and there were elk calves all over the place. Very few of the young make it nowadays.

I was able to get a photo of this fawn antelope by knowing its mom was ready to deliver one day and the next day I saw its ears flicker in the sage as I glassed for it through my binos.

I really didn't have much luck on my grizzly photos, as most of the time the bears were too far off, and the only morning they were close and I could have got some pretty good photos, the wind was blowing so hard that even on a sturdy tripod, my camera was moving so much, that I didn't get one good photo.

On another occasion I spotted a grid a long ways off in a valley, but heading towards the road and it looked like he was going to cross the road about a 1/4mile down from where I was, so I moved early on to intercept him. Things looked great for quite a while, with the exceptoin I would be shooting into the setting sun. But when he got about 200 yards away, he turned and ended up crossing the road within yards of where I had first set up. By that time there were way too many people there to move.

Here he is as he turned and headed towards his eventual crossing.

I love that really wide bull, he looks like he will be a monster.
