I found a setup with these following items included. Can anyone give me feedback on the items listed here and if they are worth the buy.I would especially like info on the camera and the lenses. Are these lenses good for zooming in from a distance? Thank you.

All this is going for a little more than $600

? Sunpak 620-020 Tripod

? Pro Battery Grip for Nikon D5100 EN-EL14 DSLR Camera (Lets you use two batteries at the same time for longer periods of use)
? Extra EN-EL14 Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery
? Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 SLD DG Macro Lens with built in motor for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

Although I don't shoot a Nikon, they build a good camera and some great glass. But the lenses included will not be great lenses for shooting wildlife at distances much farther than a long bowshot.

If you are looking to great glasses for extended distances, and you want a good quality photo, the lens is going to cost you plenty. Perhaps you can get a good used lens that will fit that bill for $5,000.

Through my very limited experience with camera and lenses, if you want a really good photo, you not only have to be close, but you also have to have a really good lens.

Good luck and have fun, that is what is most important. That outfit should get you going and then you can figure out if you want to go all the way and get the really good (expensive) stuff.

Here's a photo, taken with a prime lens at about 50 yards.

Good luck to you. BB

That is one helluva buy for the price!

My camera is a Nikon D5100 and I love it...a very solid performer. See if you can find out how many actuations it has taken...generally, this camera should be good for over 100,000 photos. Used D5100 cameras in good condition, body only, go for over $500.

The Nikon 18-55 is considered to be one of the very best Nikon kit lens. However, you can find good ones used for around $100. if that means anything. I had one and it was a gem.

Don't know about the Sigma 70-300 but you can Google reviews. They are considered one of the best third party lenses for cameras.

That is a good price for the package.

That sounds like a good deal. I have been looking, if you don't buy it send me a pm and I would like to.
