Last weekend was the first weekend I have traveled to photograph this year as the weather has been lacking. Since the road to Hermits Rest at the Grand Canyon will close to private vehicles on March 1, I followed long-held advice and went west. Sunday morning's sunrise provided pink clouds and a red glow on the ridges above the river gorge as seen from Pima point.
The clouds departed and left clear skies for Sunday afternoon. I decided to use just the 300mm and take telephoto landscapes as the last direct light hit the inner canyon features.
Finally, the sun left the canyon and about 10 minutes after sunset, the earth's shadow made for a pink and blue sky with a soft glow in the canyon.
