I'm going to upgrade my camera this year for my sheep hunt. I need a really good compact waterproof camera that I can utilize on my swavoski spotting scope as well? What are your guys's recommendations?
Thanks Bryan

Bryan, its funny finding you here.

I too am going to buy a camera. think maybe a Canon point and shoot with zoom.

You two sheep hunters have got to quit meeting like this! LOL

I use a little Nikon 10X optical zoom, point and shoot and I used it 2 years ago on my daughter's Dall sheep hunt. It takes great video too if you buy a big SD card with a 10 quality rating. It's not waterproof, I don't think, but I bought a small waterproof case at Wally Mart and it fits in my shirt pocket just fine. I've never hooked it to a spotting scope but held it against the lense and taken a few pics.

As you guys cab tell, I don't know much about cameras, but I love sheep hunting!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-27-14 AT 08:31PM (MST)[p]Be really careful with the adapter you choose when going with a water proof camera.
Most of the water proof cameras out there have a sealed lens.
When you zoom, the lens does not extend from the face of the camera.
I have a pentax optio that is like this.
Lots of the adapters hold the camera too far from the scope eyepiece.
Because the lens does not extend when zoomed, you can not get rid of the black eye relief ring.
You will want to be very picky about the combination you choose.
Lots of guys are trying the olympus TG3 because its waterproof, rustproof, shock proof, ect.
But, they are having problems with the adapters for them.
Your Swaro eye relief is going to be around 17 mm
Your camera lens will need to be somewhere in that area if the lens does not extend when zooming.
Its a limited adapter market.
