Who to send barrel to for refinishing.

I am in the process of putting together a new rifle myself. The action and barrel of the W70 270wsm are gloss finish and show some wear marks. I will be installing an HS Precision stock on the gun. I would like to send the action and barrel out to be refinished in something with a matte finish. I am in Ohio and have not really found anybody local.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Check around in your area for a gunsmith who has a rep for doing a good job on bluing firearms. Doing a matt finish is very simple compared to doing a master high gloss finish. All they have to do is glass bead the metal to give it that satin non reflective finish.

Have you considered having it cerakoted? Many color options and there is a group buy on snipershide that you could get in on and save some $$.

I would look into cerakote. I recently had a rifle done by Karl Kampfeld which turned out great. He's in MI, which wasn't local to me, but I wouldn't let that deter you.

Thanks for the replies, I will call Karl today and see what he has to say! I have a Remington and a Winchester 70 in 270WSM that are both high gloss blued. I want to turn one into a semi custom hunting rifle. Not sure which one yet. Cabelas has an HS Precision stock in the bargain cave for under $180 for the Winchester.
