Interesting observation I had today. Ive been working up loads for my 375 H & H recently. My dad use to have a 375 while back and has gotten ride of it. Neverless he had some bullets left over from his reloading that Ive dug out.
Box of 50 Hornady Spire Point. 270 Grains. $6.70 on the label. Label doesnt have which store he bought them at or which year purchased, but neverless, wow.... Granite, Im not that old to have knowledge of the good old cheap days of reloading.

beech18, I was looking through my reloading bench last night and saw a box of 100 Speer bullets for $9.99 that is nearly empty. I know I bought that box about fifteen years ago so a box for around $6 is much older.

My boys found these in the back corner of the gun room while trying to see how fast they could get a 30-378 to go.

Beech18 yes there was a time that reloading could be considered "cheap". Also during that time factory ammo was very cheap compared to today. I started reloading in the 70's mainly to get better accuracy over factory ammo and better selection of bullets.
I even remember about when I though about reloading for my shotgun, but nixed that idea as I could buy factory field and target loads for pennies over what it would cost me to reload the ammo.

The Sierra's above at $5.60 were from the mid seventies.
When you adjust for inflation through the consumer price index things have gone up about 430%, which would put them at $24.08 in todays price.
Midway has the same basic bullets for $26.50.

Not to much different.
