I have a Remington 722 in 257 Roberts. This rifle likes the 100gr Spitzer bullet.

The problem with this rifle is that the recoil deforms the tips of the bullet on occasion, even with the bullets seated low enough to comfortably fit in the magazine. It is still accurate enough with this issue as I only shoot it up to 200 yards or so.

Do any of you know of a remedy to this?

At 200 yards it isn't going to matter.

Sliding all the rounds as far as you can forward helps a little, but if it really bugs you shoot a tipped bullet or something like the TSX.

Send it to me for a couple of years and I will try to work the bugs out of it.

there can be a shoulder epoxied into the mag well that will stop the bullets from going forward & hitting the tips. It hits against the shoulder of the case and only controls the rounds below the top round in the mag.
I would not worry about it as compression damage to the bullet tip does not effect accuracy as much as any damage to the base of the bullet.

Also rotate your rounds, so not keep putting fresh rounds on top of the ones that have been in the mag for previous shots.
