I just ordered a tikka t3 superlite in 7mm mag and was wondering what ammo i should go with. This is my first 7mag but im leaning towards some of the heavier hornady superformance stuff. Anyone have any experience with it or any other suggestions, thanks

We loaded 140gr. Accubonds for a friends 7mm T-3 using RL-19 powder at 65.5gr. with Fed215 primers. awesome load. Try it in that T-3. You will find that you will pay the price with that Superlite. They are awesome rifles but the recoil is awesome too....kicks like a mule :) You my want to consider a muzzle brake on that bad boy down the road if the recoil becomes an issue for you.

Enjoy that new Rifle.

We got the loading data from Nosler and they recommended that load as the most accurate load.

7mm 140gr. Accubond-RL-19 powder,65.5gr.,Fed215 primer, 3325fps

Thanks for all the info guys. I leaning towards factory ammo, i just simply dont have time to reload, too many other hobbies. And i have thought about a screw on screw off brake. That way i could soften the blow at the range and take it off for hunting, i never feel recoil anyways while hunting. Ive been told the heavier bullets perform better at range than the 140, any truth to this?

I've always had excellent results with the Federal Premium 160g nosler partitions for elk. Hard hitting and very accurate in my rifle.

I ALSO SHOOT FEDERAL IN THE 160 GR. NOSLER PARTITIONS AT ALL ANIMALS I HUNT. THE 7MAG EASILY HANDLES A 160 GR. BULLET. ITS GREAT ON TUFF HOGS & ELK...........................YD.

Thanks for all the info guys, i ended up changing my mind on the rifle, the more i thought about it the less i wanted to shoot a 7mag out a sub 6 pound gun, i ended up seeing a winchester model 70 in 270 wsm that i got instead. Its the featherweight and it actually has a nice wood stock and the barrel came free floated. ive never been a .270 person but i liked how the ballistics looked on paper. The stock has a shnabel forend and so does my remmy model 7 i already have.

Congrats on the gun! But you
may be surprised how much kick
that gun will have! I had one in my
younger years in a straight .270.

Hope I am wrong! Let us know.

Shoulda got the 7mm. I have the Sako in 7mm it's as light as they come and a dream to shoot.

I also like the 7mm mag alot, the more i thought about it the less i wanted the rifle i ordered, the tikka superlite has a fairly shiny reciever and barrel and i just didnt want the extra cost of coating it or bead blasting it and 7mm mag in a sub 6 pound rifle just didnt sound enjoyable to me. I know you can put a break on it but ive heard when your hunting with breaks your buddies around you truly suffer. Im happy with the rifle i got and its not like its the last rifle ill ever buy. I already own a sub 7 pound gun with scope and all in a 7-08 and its great in the brush and up close. Its plenty accurate it just doesnt balance very well when theres a breeze and im shooting off hand.
