Stainless media for brass cleaning

Wanted to take a minute and give a quick review on using the stainless steel media for cleaning brass since its been a game changer for me. I have used the crushed walnut shells for ever and had decent results but like everybody else I'm sure you notice how long it takes and you have the dust to deal with.

Then started using the sonic cleaner and would finish them up with the walnut shells. I had ok results with the sonic cleaner but decided I will just use the sonic cleaner for cleaning pistols and parts. The sonic cleaner really shines in that department.

After a bunch of research and reading about mixed results I figured I would try the stainless steel media and a tumbler. After some of the reviews I wasn't expecting the world but after using the system for a while now I'm just blown away with the results.

My recently fired cases clean up to look like brand new in about a hour and cases that look like they have been out in the elements for 5 years clean up the same way in 3 hours.

So far not one complaint so if anybody has been on the fence about it, its something you may want to take a closer look at.

I saw a site on the internet on how to make your own SS brass cleaner. After seeing your post. Gets me thinking about it again.I have most of the parts already. Did you buy one or build your own ?

I didn't have a rock tumbler and I couldn't find a used on locally so I just bought a kit from a company in orem. The kit came with the Tumbler tumbler, 5 pounds of media, lemishine and a separator. The separator I had would have worked just fine so I should have just got the tumbler and the media.

I end up cleaning a lot of brass and sale it or trade it for other reloading stuff so I'm probably going to be picking up a second unit just for numbers sake.

I just finished my first batch with stainless steel media. Really happy with the results. Cases look like new. It cleans the primer pockets and the inside of the cases better then regular media. One tip tho don't spill your media down the garbage disposal. It takes a while and a long magnet to remove it all. I purchased mine from STM in Orem. Traded in my Thumblers for one of their Extreme tumblers. Theirs is a little heavier built then the Thumblers.
