I was looking at a Vortex viper HS-T 4 x 16 x 44. Has anyone had any experience with one. Pro's and con's ? I was thinking about putting on one of my boys rifle (my old rifle). Didn't want to go to the bigger 50 mm. Going to replace the old 3 x 9 x 40 mm Leopold.

I've have it in 50mm, great scope. Very clear and good in low light. I have the dead hold redical. I have mine on a 300 rum. and with the different hold over circles I can shoot out to 600 yards when I sight in first circle at 200 yards. No complaints so far but I've only had it for 1 year

They are on sale now for 399.00 I dont think I can go wrong. Just hoping I will be happy with it. I am now using Night force 56 mm and a Leopold 6.5 x 20 x 50mm. These are my other turret scopes. They are just so big. I want to put the Vortex on a 338 win mag A bolt that is light and easy to shoot off hand. It has a 3 x 9 x 40 mm Leopold that I put on it more then 20 years ago. I have bought a cheaper scope a few years ago and regretted it. I hope this doesn't happen again. :)

I had the Viper HS 2.5-10. Sorry to say, but it was the biggest piece of junk I have ever looked through. I sent it in to have it repaired. Came back the same way. It was clear in the center but very blurry around the edges. If you are not looking through the scope perfectly (any angle at all side-side or up-down) it is very blurry.
If you are used to using high end scopes like Night Force and high end Leopolds you will not be happy with this scope.
Check the classified adds. They are full of Vortex optics. There is a reason for that.
