Tikka T3 Hunter .300 Win Mag

Decided to try a Tikka after hearing all the good comments about them.
Went to range today and my first hand load averaged just under 3/4" for 5 shots on five different groups.
A couple groups were one hole until I blew it or got excited and did not let the barrel cool long enough between shots.

Outstanding rifle in my opinion and I have not even tried another load yet.
The only negative things I have to say about the rifle is you have to reload to OAL of the magazine which is shorter than most.
Even with the free bore this thing is accurate.
The other is this rifle is light and kicks like a mule compared to the Remingtons I have...I see a limbsaver in my future on this rifle.
Note-I bedded the action before I took it out like I do all my rifles after figuring out how to do it with the crzy different recoil lug..
Tikka T3 Hunter is a thumbs up

There is a lot more to hunting than just getting your Deer or whatever and there is a lot more to shooting than just accuracy. I have a friend that shoots a Tikka and he likes his. I tell him it's the biggest piece of molded junk plastic i ever seen and wouldn't want to be caught dead seen with one, much less ever think of taking the piece of crap hunting with me.

So, i like real wood, Remington and Winchester Rifles. I'm a snob, there, i admit it.

Hunting is my religion and i won't take no tikka to Church!

Other than that, i'm glad you like yours!

Ahhh Sage- The Tikka T3 Hunter is the wood stocked model.

I too like Winchester's and Remington's but have never had one shoot near as well as this Tikka right off the bat.
A few more loads made up and I will find the one it prefers the most.
If you ever want me to take you to Sunday School at Church here in Colorado I will be happy to.
Bring some cash for the confession. You will need it afterward.;)

LOL,,OK i may have been a bit rough. As long as you like it, that's what counts. Most guys that have them, like them.

My Buddy with his Tikka, he asks for and values my thoughts but even he, tells me that i'm FOS from time to time...

Sako's are very nice but the Tikka is lacking where design (form) & fit (people, not action/stock) are concerned. I have to agree the plastic stock is cheap as heck and I wouldn;t take one to camp either.

I have KDF brake on my .338 and I do recommend them, but why change the recoil pad if you install a brake? Just my thoughts.

I've never shot one Jerry but everyone who owns one says about the same thing. "those suckers are shooters"
You should be pretty happy since most, and I mean damn near every other production rifle ever made, will never shoot 5,.75, 5 shot groups!

I've got to agree with others on the muzzle brake. Back in 1985 I shot my 300 win exactly 6 times before I put a KDF on it. It's been a sweet shooter all these years. Now my daughter shoots it for everything. It's her's since I gave it to her for her desert sheep hunt in 2009.

Well done man, It sounds like you made a great choice.

Yeh I suggested the recoil pad because the one that came factory on your Grandsons rifle was a joke and nothing more than a piece of hard and I mean hard rubber. It's one of the places the mfg. cut back to keep the price down.

I added a Manners T4 heavy fill stock to my Tikka T3 light WSM, it helped reduce the recoil and made the gun look a lot better.

I have a tikka t3 lite in 300 wsm that I put a limbsaver recoil pad and a muzzle brake on it. it shoots well and weighs 7 and 1/4 pounds with the scope. Sage, it may be ugly, but it sure looks good when you are looking to pack less weight. ce61

ce, i think that it was you who said they packed their rifle so much... that they could tell by the heft of it if it had shells in the mag or not...

Well, i got one better, i can tell by the heft, if the cartridges in it are 140 or 150 grainers! ;-) j/k
