LAST EDITED ON Jul-20-14 AT 05:57PM (MST)[p]On a pistol or a revolver...when you test-fire the gun, for accuracy, using a rest, there are some folk that say just rest your barrel, or fore-end on the rest, and there are some that say don't touch the barrel, or the frame on the rest as it won't work right. What do you say?

I seem to get the best work done with my target pistols, sitting, both arms extended out, rear of barrel close to action up on a sandbag or similar rest.

Similar to Joey.
I use a bench, on top of that are 3 sandbags. 2 for the front and one rear.
I put the grip butt on the low, rear bag and have the other 2 bags under the trigger group/frame area. I do not rest the barrel on anything. Oh, if your're like me, find your reading glasses before the next step.
Squeeze and smile at the great results! Who says a three-five-seven isn't good to 100 yards? haha

What gun/action are you talking about?

I rest the contender FE on the two bags and the grip butt on the single bag. Kind of the same.
