Gentleman,
I am wondering if anybody is running the 140 grain Accubond in their 270 Win.? I just picked up a pretty little Browning X-bolt Hunter with a 22" barrel and really want to make a go of this bullet. It doesn't take much looking around to see H4350 and H4831 pop up as very good powders for the 270 but I am wondering if the 22" tube will be too short for the slower burning 4831? Anyway, I would appreciate any feedback on any similar loads to help me get started. Thank you.

4831sc and 140gr accubonds are a deadly combo. My load is over book max but I'd say start low and work up and see what happens.

I was going to suggest exactly what Cahunter805 said. I am going to load that combo for an antelope hunt. mtmuley

Thanks guys! I knew I would get some good feedback here. That powder will definitely be one I will try. Any preference for seating depth for the Accubond and Federal 210 or 215?

Good ol 270 Winchester and 140 gr Accubonds, don't know if there's a better combo out there.

I shot mine thru a 270WSM so not sure what powder would be best in a 22" tube but Ca805 knows his stuff and if he says it's good, i'd buy into his findings! :)

The accuracy of the 140 AB in my 270 WBY and 270 win is not impressive to say the least.

The 150 gr LRAB on the other hand looks like a ragged hole out of my 270 WBY. I haven't tried it in the 270 win yet.

If you can get your hands on the LRAB I'd go there and skip the 140's. you'd have a heavier flatter shooting bullet even if it doesn't shoot any better.

The 139 gr BTSP Hornady Interlock is a fantastic bullet in the 270 win as well.

Keep it coming guys, I am all ears as I'm new to this caliber. I have seen the 150 LRAB and seeing the devastation of the Swift Scirrocco in my 338 RUM I am not ruling that out either. I appreciate any and all feedback but since I already have the 140 grain AB's and a buddy that I'm sure would part with a little 4831sc I think I will start there.

440, did you find the LRAB's to shoot well at a specific seating depth?

My 270 WBY is a custom tight chamber with no freebore. so what works for me probably won't apply for a standard barrel.

To be honest I just loaded them to my standard OAL which is probably off the lands a fair bit given the LRAB's ogive.

I happen to have more than a full box of 140 gr. .277 LRAB's. Reasonable!!

Funny how my 270WSM didn't like LRAB's, thru lots and lots of testing, yet always dimed in the reg 140's.

Are you guys using a federal 210 or close equivalent primer?

I've loaded a lot of IMR4350 for the 270 with very good results. In the 3 rifles with 22 inch barrels,we ended up with close to 56 grains of AA3100, Remington non mag primers, Remington brass, and 140 grain accubonds. Very accurate and my Dad had 2 one shot kills on mature Black Bear. Not sure if Accurate Arms still makes 3100. I think Sageadvise used one of those 270's one year. You have a nice gun and caliber.
