My dad has been reloading for his 7-08 he has a model 7 remmy with a cut down barrel at 16 inches. Slightly compressed load, 2860 average with a 139 Sst. How is that even feasible?

He is probably pushing max load pretty good. The velocity is pretty close considering the shorter barrel. What powder is he loading? How much? Also what chrony and how many times has he tested it?

Imr4350 and I will have to report back on amount. He is an experienced reloader and is working with an even more experienced reloader. Multiple 5 round testing. I wouldn't believe it if it wasn't hooked up to a printout machine and I hadn't read it and wasn't looking at it constantly. + or - 29 fps. Not only that 3/4 moa. It is bedded and a great rifle. Accountable for a dozen plus alaskan animals. Is it just a fast barrel or what? It
contradicts everything I have read. I don't know what chrony it is a chrony that the range rents out. Check back with that. Apparently it was 10 feet from muzzle.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-24-14 AT 00:12AM (MST)[p]He's over pressure, as there is no free lunch or magic rifles that give an extra 200fps..

I am not saying that is a terrible thing, if he's experienced and is comfortable with it, roll with it.There are so many guys out there that are pushing or above 70,000PSI it would scare you, and they all think they have a magic barre/cartridge..Hell i'm one of them, but I realize im pushing pressure boundaries, not that I have a magic rifle.
