??? of the Day ... Your effective rifle range?

Question of the Day ..... Currently, at what range would you bet $100 that you could hit a paper plate? 300 yards, 500, 1000? If you shoot multiple guns, share the range for each.

Since weather and situation plays into it, we'll call it a calm, warm day and you have a dead rest shooting from the prone position. So pretty ideal.

It all depends on who's holding the paper plate!!!!!!

Seriously though, I've got a couple rigs that would ventilate the paper plate at around 750 yards with regularity but if I had to put a "C" note on the line, I'd keep the shot at around 600.

For some guys that's WAY too far. For others it's a chip shot. With my skill (or lack thereof) and rifle gear it's about my max.

I did a ton of "long range" rifle shooting this year to prepare for a moose hunt and ended up killing my bull at 15 yards with my bow! Ya just never know how things will work out.

If I had to choose a distance I'd say 600 like Zeke. I regularly shoot long range out to 1000 on a 10" plate but with money on the line 600 would be easy money especially with no wind.

Interesting. I would take your $100 at 600 yards every time. I would like to think farther, but 600 for sure.

First shot, $100. on the line, 400 yds.

On a good day, i might be tempted to go out to 500 yds but that's stretching my abilities.

With my grandfather's Win 94 30-30 , I can hit a 10" plate at 100 yards off-hand every time . . . . . . . . that I don't miss! With my rifles , Im very confident in the 400-450 range .
