Weatherby Vanguard S2 Weight Question

So I have a Wby Vanguard S2 Deluxe with a walnut stock. The stock has a few bad dings in it that occurred before I bought it and I'm considering putting some money into the package to lighten it for packing. The scoped weight right now is right at 9 lbs. I'm considering fluting the barrel and putting a light composite B&C stock on it. I'm curious if anyone on here as done custom work to a similar Wby and what the weight savings was. Thanks.

By the time you did that you could just afford a new lightweight weatherby in another model. Weatherby actions are heavier so they are usually not the first choice on building a lightweight, but it can be done. The barrel will have to be taken off to be fluted and some may not recommend fluting at this point in the process. Just get a new one that way you still have the accuracy warranty if it doesn't shoot.

Wasn't thinking about the accuracy warranty...not a bad point. Guess I need to think about it then.
