.270 WSM slow-motion recoil

Now we see why eye relief is important! The damn ocular lens is headed our way in a hurry during recoil!
Cool vid.
By the way, are you making fun of Thor or his hammer? I'm sure he wouldn't be flattered by his namesake being used on a mere .277. Think BIGGER! LOL

Lol, not making fun of Thor or his Hammer. I was just surprised at the recoil. I'm used to shooting a .300 WSM and a 6.5-06 with muzzlebraes so they are pretty pleasant to shoot. I didn't realize how fast the scope was moving as well until you mentioned it. I also noticed that I involuntarily blinked. Makes it easy to see why you see so many pictures of the dreaded 'scope bite'.

Yessir, the magnum eyebrow is alive and well!
Several years ago I shot a bull elk and was amazed at all the blood......in the snow, right at my feet!
It was really cold and I didn't even know I'd been bitten until I saw "red on white" of my own doing!
No doubt I bled more than the dead elk! LOL

The 270WSM is about all i want as far as recoil goes. Even with it's relatively modest recoil, i really have to concentrate to keep from pulling on the trigger and slightly off the target. Good ear protection helps me and i pad my shoulder when on the bench.

Nobody that knows me and within reach, has ever called me a sissy and lived. lol I just don't like recoil, and that cartridge in a normal weight rifle pushes my limits of being able to consistently shoot accurately.

cjg_, i too have referred to the 270WSM here as "Thor's Hammer". lol It and the 280AI, imo, are about as perfect a open country Muley cartridges as there is. 3250-3300 FPS With 140 gr Accubonds = Dead Deer.
