Berger 230 grain hybrids

I was told that the Berger 230 grain Hybrids in 30 caliber where hard hitting sob's. I haven't been able to find any. But I have been thinking about trying some in my 300 Tejas. I was hoping the bullet weight ,would help me slow them down a little to allow them to work for me. Most of you know I am not a Berger fan. But I am looking to go up in bullet weight . I have tried the Accubond LR 190 grains and the Barnes Lrx 200 grains. Those are they only bullets I have been able to find other then the 168 grain Barnes and Bergers that I have already. I am still trying to get the 190 ' and 200's to group better. Have any of you tried shooting any of the Hybrids? I hear they aren't as sensitive in coal as the regular Vld hunting bullets.

Broz over on longrangehunting uses 215 hybrids. He tested 210 vld vs the 215 hybrids. You might ring him up. His rifle kills about 20 Elk/year.

Mtmuley,

That is an interesting read that you posted. I've only made it half way through (20 pages) I'll have to finish the rest after I go gamble at the hunting expo.

The hybrids I've loaded have been extremely accurate and very easy to load. Not picky at all. My buddy killed a buck this year with the hybrid and it was impressive!

It's a good time to look at big animals and BS with other hunters. Some good company's are there with the best guns, scopes, optics. It's a good time

I must of walked past you ten times one_dryboot. I didn't say Bergers where only just for paper targets. But those Paper punchers sure do like"m . ;-)
Mtmuley I read most of what you linked up. Thanks for the link. I learned a lot. Talked with Mike Davidson at the Expo and he said I maybe better off with a solid bullet like the Barnes as well. The Bergers may not stat together with the fps I am shooting. He did say he thought Brad was making a mistaking not going up in bullet weight. He is just staying with the 168 grain Bergers and has not played around with the heavier bullets much.I guess he is just to busy building guns and no time to work up loads. Although he said he was having the same trouble trying to stabilize the 200 gr Barnes LRX . It is not going through my paper targets with a straight hole. It is key holing at 100 yards shooting 3125 fps w/ 87 grains of Retumbo. My Nosler LR's in 190 gr are shooting a 1.94 group at 100 yards w/ 96.5 grains of Retumbo @ 3393 fps. I guess I need to keep play with powder and bullet seating depths until I find the right spot.

You're finally getting smarter----ass'er. haha

By the way, We were supposed to meet up for a loooong man-hug at the expo. Where were you?
(sorry, I didn't text you either)

I was so busy walking around the expo looking at animal racks, and the other kind of racks, I was pretty distracted. ;-)
We have a few Tejas rifles in our group. We've mostly used 168, 180s but recently started toying with heavier. I do think 168 Bergers are too light for that fast shooting rifle. the link Mt. Posted had some pretty good info.

Lol sorry, Zeke! I was so pissed I didn't draw a sheep tag, I ran out of there like a baby. I really thought this was my year :(
