I've seen these CLP type products and I think the smith used it after removing stuck screws on my 700.
Just wondering your take on the CLP type gun cleaners&lubricants.

I've always been a Hoppes#9 and oil guy. Bore snakes.
I do need a good guide.
I shoot copper coated(Accubonds,Barnes,Nosler) and copper. Some lead in shotgun still.

Tried one of the aerosol cleaners and I thought it would eat my Hogue stock, yikes.

I shoot mz too,BH 209.Sabots.

I'm also not anal about cleaning. I give them a good one after season and after making sure it's still on target. But I leave a fouled barrel for hunting season.

Any thoughts from those out there?

I use Butch's for the initial clean of residue and Wipe Out for the copper, what little there is. Currently shooting Barnes TSX. I had a shoebox full of cleaners that I tossed out.
I just cleaned my dad's old Savage 99 yesterday. Never had the copper removed in it's lifetime. Took most of the day with lots of brass brush stroking and 4 wipe out sessions but it's smooth now.

+1 on what WB said. Butch's Bore Shine and Wipe Out.

Bob??? Brass brushes ? I thought for copper removal . You are suppose to use nylon brushes.

Yep! BigJohn is right.
Bronze/brass brushed will indicate a false-positive for copper when used with a copper cleaner. Way better off to use nylon!
With that said, bronze will work however.

When you have a copper booger clinging to the rifling, a plastic brush won't get the job done. The bronze brush isn't for std duty cleaning.

Nylon is what gals wear on their legs.

I'm a big Shooters Choice fan.

Best bronze brushes that Sinclair International
makes to help

I guess that's why it always looks clean,it is.

Brass brush is for guns and metal.

Nylon and cotton are for the fluffing off the barrel,at least I think that's what she said...................

Hoppes will work on the copper over a period of time and soften it up nicely, use a BRONZE PHOSPHOR brush, not brass or nylon for the initial scrubbing.

I use Hoppes to do the initial cleaning then swab the barrel before putting in the safe. Then re-clean in a couple weeks any residual copper comes right out as blue/green stuff on the patch. Run several until you get clean pass thru's.

I used Sweets 7.62 for years until I tried Wipe Out. I can't imagine a better copper solvent. That plus Butch's Bore Shine is my regime now.

Boretech eliminator and copper cleaner are the best I've used hands down. I use nylon brushes and Dewey coated cleaning rods. Also make sure to use aluminum or coated jags and tips. Brass will give a false reading. Lucas bore guides are what I use mainly. Sinclair has some good ones also.
