Not homemade but get the stainless pins. They do not wear out, get your brass super clean, and overall work so much better than crushed walnut or corncob.
Now having said all of that, I still use walnut when I am reloading bulk rifle cartridges. After sizing I toss them in the walnut media and tumble a while to remove the sizing lube.
