Are all the model 700 actions the same? To be clear is the ADL, BDL, and CDL actions created of equal quality and craftsmanship?

Also is there a specific year or time period where the model 700 had better quality built into them.

Reason I am asking is I have a 1996 model 700 BDL in a 7 mag which I contemplating parting with while putting the scope, rings, trigger, and stock on a 270.

Thanks for any advise you may have.

Yup, all the same, ADL has only a trigger guard as apposed to a bottom metal for unloading shells like the BDL. A CDL came out probably 12-13 years ago and is a version of a BDL, different stock as I recall is the only difference and also came with a smooth barrel, no sites.

Now some will say the 700 actions from early to mid 1990's that had serial numbers starting with a "C" where a bit better. Smoother and nicer to work with. Not sure its true but the "C" was one people look for. My KS .280 from 1992 is a "C" action, I will say its darn smooth & the rifle has always been accurate so maybe??

Your 7MM might be a "C" action, if so maybe keep it and use it as a donor action for as future build.

LAST EDITED ON May-30-15 AT 08:19PM (MST)[p]Thanks for the response. I looked and my serial # starts with an "E". Oh well. Still shoot awesome.
