shooting in/through grass

Weird question, but one I encountered this past season. I was trying to get on a deer, threw my pack down, laid down, and noticed I was shooting through some grass. It wasn't thick at all, but I was laying in it. I didn't end up getting a shot, but the thought crossed my mind - "can I shoot through this grass, or will it mess me up?" I ended up getting a shot, but grass wasn't involved. The picture below shows the exact grass I am talking about - about 2/3 up in picture on the little knob.

Some will say it matters not. Others will say it will make you shoot wildly.

The only answer that I can come up with is, It depends on what and how much of it you hit and how far away your target is.

I, for one, don't want to shoot through anything but I guess I would if not thick and the target was really close.

PS: Fine trophy buck! You should be proud!

One more thing:
If the grass is just in front of the deer, shoot away with confidence.
If the grass is right in front of the muzzle, beware of missing or worse.

yes, it makes a difference WHERE the grass is.

That's funny!

I think I'll stick to my original thoughts - if it's in front of the deer and not too thick, I'm probably fine. If it's up close, I better be super careful and try to avoid it.

Make sure it's light grass like in your pic. Real heavy dry grass near your muzzle just might start the grass on fire from the muzzle flash.

At least you wouldn't care about making the shot! ha

I know you don't want to shoot thru snow banks....instant blizzard on yourself!!! Looking thru the scope had a clear view
but the barrel wasn't...
Shot thru a mahogany bush one time when the buck got up out of his bed was standing broadside, head sticking out one side and butt out the other at 30 yards with my .270...got the buck but it was a nasty hole about the size of a soccer ball...
