LAST EDITED ON Nov-11-16 AT 07:52PM (MST)[p]At work today I was talking to an older guy about guns and hunting. He talked about his 300 WBY and how well it shoots the 175 grn Sierra Match Kings. I asked what he uses for hunting. He said he uses them. I always use hunting bullets for my big game and only mess with the match grade for Varmits, but thought- what the hell? They will do the job. Do any of you use Match bullets for hunting?

No, and the manufacturer doesn't recommend them for it either. for a reason.

To me it's just like using a caliber too small for the job. in a perfect world with perfect shots almost anything will work. it's when things don't go perfect the chit hits the fan.

With the many different bullets made today, there is no need to use one not suited for hunting. mtmuley

I used them for the first time this year on recommendation of a trusted friend, 123 gr A-max out of a 6.5 creedmoor. Shot the largest bodied deer I've ever seen, dropped him stone cold dead with one shot. Went through one shoulder, exploded the chest cavity and stuck against the offside shoulder.

I've also had many clients kill Elk and Deer with Bergers.

Just like any other bullet, its more about where you hit than what you hit with.

We're blessed to live at a time when we have plenty of great choices. I'll use a product which is engineered for the job at hand. You do whatever you want.
Enough said.

pretty much all i've used in the last 5 years..I literally stopped giving a chit about armchair wonderings..they kill, fast.

I use the Lapua Scenar for hunting out of my 338LM,they are nothing short of fantastic on deer and elk, short and long range ?
