I purchased the 6" 22lr and took it out today. What a blast! I'm thinking about getting a 4" later on down the road. Right now it is just the plain, run of the mill, production pistol. Once I get about 2000 rounds through it, I will have a gunsmith tune it. I might wear it out it will be so much fun. Do any of you guys have one? If you do, try the SpeedBeez speed loader and loading block.

After 2,000 rounds you may not need to tune it. Should have a smoother lighter trigger after that many rounds of wearing the parts in and smoothing any possible burrs.

you won't wear out a 617. The 4" is perfectly balanced but they are harder to find. I had a pinned and recessed 34-1 2" snubby j-frame. I sold it in a moment of stupidity. It was so accurate and fun. It will be replaced. The 317 kit gun is really cool too, but it's an air weight frame.

Shooting it will only make the action smoother as RELH said. Have fun with it. I love Smith revolvers.

I've heard that shooting them more and more helps out. I'm not really a pistol guy but love guns and shoot many. I inherited two S&W pistols from my dad that he had the triggers worked on and they're just amazing, truly amazing. It sounds stupid, but they kind of make you proud of mankind, they're that good, in both the single and double action. You two probably know what I mean. I did some research and there is a famous gunsmith in Phoenix that does good work. It's about a six month wait and around $180.

Love my 617 6". I use the speedloader system and block. Makes for a lot of shooting fun. Watch for lead buildup depending on what ammo your using. Not sure if your in Utah or not, but if you are hit me up when your ready for a 4" and I can save you some money.
