I have no interest in muzzle loaders but I should draw a hunt that requires one.

I have a Remington 700 in line, the early version. in Oregon I have to use loose powder, open ignition and conical copper or lead bullets.

what powder is best? I'll be using a musket cap I it matters.

Thor bullets are legal so I'm going to get some Thor 247 gr hollow points. anyone know anything about them?

As far as loads it makes no sense to me, it's nothing like center fire. they say 120 gr of powder is max, but which powder is that? how much more or less if you switch brands? 120 gr with what type and weight of bullet? it all seems very generic .

120 grains of pyrodex 777 holy black ect stay away from blackhorn as I believe you need a bolt and breech conversion to fire it in your gun.

Black powder is measured by volume, not weight. Get a powder measure and shoot groups w 90 gr, 95, 100, 105, see what your gun shoots mot accurately. You might need to run a patch w solvent down the bore every 3-5 shots if loading takes more effort. I've had good luck w 777 and hot primers. FYI, there is a thread on MM just for muzzleloading. Good luck.
