Any one still using plain ol Core-lokt ammo ?
I used it in my 270's for years
And had alot of quick one shot kills on deer
Been using balistic tipped lately and they don't drop deer like the old Remington's did.

Yes....they work

We are educated beyond our intelligence on pricey bullets....

I've killed deer and elk with core-lokts. They aren't the toughest or most aerodynamic but the deer or elk didn't know that.

The 130gr in 270 Winchester was all I used to use for 10-12 years before I started handloading, dropped a lot of white tail deer with those suckers

Yes they work. and if you're looking for the worst bullet on the market you scored.

If you want factory loads Hornady is the way to go in this price range.

Worst bullet on the market? Jesus am I glad I didn't have the internet back when I was packing my old 721 .06 and killing everything I could get a tag for here in Montana. With a 180 grain Core-Lokt no less. There are better options these days, but the Core-Lokt isn't the worst one. mtmuley

It's what I used when I didn't know any better too.

Name a game bullet with a worse BC and weight retention in one package. then see if you can't name 50 others that are better.

Yes they work , Toonces the cat could drive too. just not very well.

True but I'd wager in 90% of all game taken, it would make no difference. If you're pushing the limits I suppose there is something to be had but most of the advantage will never be realized in the field by the average joe.

If You Wanna Drill Holes with Your 7 MAG use JUNK CORE-LOKTS!

I Don't Agree with Ocho very often but.....................!

If You wanna See some Real Damage & You Don't wanna Chase Sshhiittt around until it dies a few days later get You some Winchester POWER-POINTS!

Or Break the 375 RUM out!

It Ain't Easy being Me!:D:D:D

CORE-LOKTS bullets always worked for me. I got a little tired of trimming off 10 pounds of bloodshot meat all the time though.:D

Yeah
Now that you mention it
Did have a lot of blood shot with them

I have used many different bullets and loads over the years and Rem CL bullets will kill just fine. Here is a 180 gr .30 caliber that was shot from a 300 Wby into a oryx about 150 yards away. It was recovered just under the hide on the far side. The oryx went 20 yards and dropped.

Great mushrooming
Think that's why they are so effective
Delivery all their energy inside chest cavity

Yup,
Millions have fallen from a lead ball out of a musket and they performed perfectly. Killed em all dead as dead.

We should all stock up on those for sure.

Not as quick as Core-loks I'd bet

Are there more advanced rounds? Sure, but a hole through the heart is still a hole through the heart and a bullet is no better than the guy pulling the trigger. I was with my dad just a few months before he passed and got to watch him put a 130 gain corelokt in the back of a cow elks head at 400 yards. She didn't know what brand of bullet it was.

I agree
Didn't need all the fancy crap everyone has nowadays

Lots of problems with BT blowing up and no Penetration had one deer we cleaned to many small bullet fragments. Lots of bloodshot meat.

))))?????>

A little off topic, but it would be awesome to read a hunting story where some average hunter killed an awesome buck (or other big game) with a regular cartridge (.30-06, .270 Win, etc) at an average range, with a bullet and rifle that most guys shoot. It's exhausting reading about all the wiz-bang exotic rifles, extended ranges, super-duper bullets, and armies of spotters to kill a monarch.

Sorry just reminiscing of a time when things were simpler.

Yeah
My hunting gear consisted of a lined Levi jacket, jeans, rubber boots and a 270 with a Weaver 3-9 scope
And a pair of Bushnell binos
And of course Core-lokt ammo

Coreloks are all I use for deer on my .270. Almost every deer I shoot either drops in its tracks or is down within 20 yards. I will use them till they stop making them!

I could never bring myself to use Corelokts. They kill animals dead, but I prefer a bullet that kills animals deader than dead.

"You can fly a helicopter to the top of Everest and say you've been there. The problem with that is you were an a$$hole when you started and you're still an a$$hole when you get back.
Its the climb that makes you a different person". - Yvon Chouinard

You know, you can't really fly a helicopter to the top of Everest. :)

I'm pretty sure CoreLokts do pretty well.

Here's a video that shows a 7mm mag 150 corelokt going through a big bull elks horn and through to the other side against the hide.

Pretty sure it's all there and the elk definitely didn't go anywhere.

The action starts about the 5:00 min mark and the bullet can be seen next to the hole in the horn at the 8:15 min mark. Plenty of slow motion replays of the bullet trace and the puff of white when it goes through the horn to prove it.

If you have a late hunt coming up this one might get you excited. Less than a month away !!!

Cheers,
Pete
