Gun Value Curiosity

I am curious as to what my Tikka T3 Superlite rifle might be valued at. Had someone ask the other day if I would be interested in selling. I hadn't given it much thought up until then and since I have just been wondering what the acutal value of the rifle would be at. Like I said the rifle is a Tikka T3 Superlite chambered in 300 Win Mag. It is fluted, stainless and also has a Bell and Carlson stock on it. The rifle has Tally Rings and Nikon 3.5-14 Prostaff 5 scope. Thanks!

When I sell used guns I always try to ask myself how much would I pay for it. I've found out that I have a hard time buying or selling a used, off the shelf, rifle for more than $500, usually less. If it has a common scope I feel it's worth about $100-$150 more. I've bought plenty for $500-$550. Garden Variety rifles won't bring top dollar ever.

I agree with Captain_coues

If it's a $750 rifle new it's worth 70% to 80% of that so $500 to $600.

The Bell and Carlson stock may not add any value. That's like putting a $1,000 worth of new tires on your truck and expecting to get an extra $1,000 when you trade it in. If you have the original stock you might want to put it back on and sell the Bell and Carlson separately.

A couple hundred for the scope, bases and rings. If you think you will ever be able to use the scope and rings then take them off and keep them.

So you might have $1,400 or more in your rifle it may only sell for $700 to $800.

Back in the day I knew a guy that pretty much made a living trading guns. When he traded for a new rifle he took everything off it. Scope, rings, bases, sling swivel, sling, case, etc. He would sell you the plain rifle and if you wanted a scope he just happened to have some bases that fit that gun.

LAST EDITED ON May-18-18 AT 05:15PM (MST)[p]Those Superlites typically sell pretty easily since they are only sold at Sportsmans Warehouse and they have a good following from guys that don't have access to them. And really its hard not to like the accuracy of the Tikka's. The only tough sell on that one will be the caliber, its pretty stout out of the SL's when you are taking a mag. If you try and sell it on the right internet forum you might do better depending on how it looks and how many rounds through it, maybe try selling on 24hrcampfire. I think for the rifle in the factory stock you might get $700 +/-, sell the stock separate - it will sell easy. FYI, I just sold a Superlite 7mm-08 a few months back for $750 shipped.
