Mercury Recoil Reducers

Does anyone have one in their shotgun/rifle? Do they work? I met one person years back at a shooting range that had one in a shotgun. It's been to long to remember if it was effective or not.

I have shotgun with a mercury recoil reducer in my Beretta Extrema. It is the softest shooting 12 gauge 3 1/2 magnum ever. When my kids where little they prefer d shooting it over they 20 gauge Remington youth shotgun. So yes they work.
You shoot a shot gun much more then a hunting rifle. So I can see using one where you are shooting over and over again. Like in a duck blind.
I big game rifle if you do it right. You only need to shoot it once. I guess I have never been recoil shy. But with today's muzzle brakes.I don't think it is necessary. My 90 pound daughter at 14 years old would shoot my 300 Tejas up hill with out a problem. It recoils less then some 270's I have shot. But that my 2 cents on the subject. Hopefully it helps you out.

I shoot quite a bit of trap and I ALWAYS have a mercury tube in my shotgun. I prefer 10oz or more. For a rifle that you are going to be lugging around mountains, not sure you would want to add that much but added weight definitely reduces recoil. Keep in mind that you have to drill the stock out so the tube will fit in there tight. Usually they are around 3"-5" long by 5/8" - 7/8" in diameter depending on size.

They work. partly just because they add weight.

I used them when I was shooting competitively and shooting so much but I can't see any reason to use them anywhere else .

+1

That's exactly how I feel. If a guy is shooting competition where firearm added weight is a plus, then do it.
