LAST EDITED ON Apr-23-13 AT 07:28AM (MST)[p]Just wondering if your family helped inspire you in your archery quest...

For me it was my great grandfather who back in 1939 decided to buy a deer tag, then ask the state if he could shoot attempt to hunt deer with a bow and arrow. The state of Utah said that it wasn't a problem but why would he want to when he has a rifle? Well He did it and here is the article.

Tallbuck1 your lucky to have a long heritage of archery hunting in your family. For us we were only rifle in my youth and after USMC days. I took up archery because I love to hunt. I love the rush of being able to get up close and personal to within a few feet of game. Being able to think, hunt and stalk like a predictor is what archery for me ...is all about :) My entire family and friends all now archery hunt as primary hunting and rifle takes a back seat to the stick and string. You are lucky...I lost a lot of good years of my younger stronger days missing out on archery hunting. In my 60's now, It takes a lot out of me on a 10 day hunt even with conditioning and shooting 60+ arrows/day. I keep up with the young guys so far but I can see the end to that very soon :(
