Rage Expandable vs G5 T3 expandable

I'm wanting to switch to an expandable broadhead this year and have narrowed it down to two, the Rage or G5 T3. I normally hunt out of a ground blind and shoot through a mesh screen over the windows. Does anyone know which one does not expand when passing through the mesh screen or which one will perform better when shooting through a screen?

Both will open on a screen. Have you researched a swhacker? Only mech head ill shoot other than that i will shoot fixed for muiltple reasons but if your stuck on on one of those i think you can buy stiffer bushing( not sure tha thats what there called) so they dont open on a screen on the t3. I have seen bad things happen with both those heads. Really the only thing i dont like bout the t3 is how much KE they use up. Resulting in poor penetration. Other than that i think there well designed.

I have used the T-3 on several deer and a couple of antelope,I like them for the deer sized animals. I drew an elk tag in Utah last year and just didnt feel comfortable with them on elk. Some may disagree but I trust a good fixed blade for bigger thick skinned and heavier boned animals..Elk, Moose and the like. I wouldnt shoot any mechanical through a screen, most likely to deploy blades going through.

I have shot both through the screens with good luck hunting turkeys. I change the spider clips on the T3 to the red clip I believe. I have not killed a deer with either head but my dad has with the T3 and it is devastating. Hope this helps you.

Thanks to all of you that have responded. MuleyMinor, I'm happy to hear that you have had success shooting through screens with both. Congrats on your success with turkeys. I think that now a days expandable heads have been pretty perfected and I will be alright choosing either broadhead but want to hear from people that have shot these to make me feel more comfortable about my choice.Anyone else that has some input or an experience of shooting either of these heads through a ground blind screen, please let me know.

Good luck this hunting season, shoot straight!!!

The reason I want to switch is mainly because I spend so much time trying to tune my bow for broadheads after it has been tuned with field tips. I've been told that these mechanical heads shoot the same as field tips and many people say that they work just as well as the fixed blade heads.Do I figure I would give them a try.

Ohhhh, bad idea, IMO. "Tuning" with field points really isn't tuning at all. Tune your bow properly with fixed heads, then if you decide to shoot mechs, fine, but just shooting mechs because they shoot the same as field points is masking some real problems. Do it right, then you will have the piece of mind that your bow is set up properly. With today's broadheads, tuning is easy with fixed heads and "field point" similar flight is very achievable.

I only shoot mechnicals but I totally agree with Nate, I would never shoot any of them through a screen or mesh of anykind. I doubt I would shoot a fixed blade through them for that matter but your asking for problems big time with a head that requires impact to open and deploy the blades.

I've used both of these and have had horrible failures with rage, they don't open. I used T3' s last year and had a clean pass through at 62yrds and the elk only made 40 yards.
if you're shooting over 285fps fixed blades are hard to tune. just a tip.

How is it that your rage didn't open? They are a fool proof broadhead that have to open on impact. So what's the story? You just don't like rage or you had bad/unethical shot placement
