Best setup??

I've been thinking about the best setup for western hunting and occasionally 3D. I'm shooting a Hoyt Vector 35- Black Gold Ascent 4 pin, QAD HDX, and a 8" B-Stinger. What are your thoughts on my set up, and what are you guys set up with? I think I've got a pretty dang good set up. What are your set ups? What do you guys like? What are you guys looking into possibly upgrading to this year?

I run a very similar setup on my Rampage. Personally I dont shoot much 3D and when I do my setup is just as competitive as the next guys i shoot with other that stability. B-Stinger makes the side mount stabilizer that should work with your current setup stabilizer. Im no target shooter but if I was looking to get a good setup for both I would seriously consider that extra stability on the side. Hope that helps, good luck.

I think you have the right idea, a little longer bow with a sight thats capable of reaching out to longer ranges. I am still shooting a Mathews Drenalin LD with a 8 pin Trophy Ridge sight and 10" Posten stab.

8 pins is just too much for me.. I look at that and have a tough time seeing each pin. But sounds like a good set up. If you're feeling like an upgrade, I recommend the Black Gold Ascent. I've also looked into a side bar set up but am thinking it may be a bit cumbersome to hunt with? Or is it worth it for the "shot of a lifetime"?

The side bar is definitely a pain to lug around. I was more or less talking about using it for your 3D shoots. I agree 8 pins is a lot. My 5 pin slider had treated me really well.

Your setup sounds fine but if I were going to upgrade one item. I would consider adding one or two more pins to your BlackGold sight. We have the BlackGold 5pins and just upgraded through BlackGold adding one more pin making our BlackGold sights a six pin sight. BlackGold sent us the extra pin and walked us through installing the pin correctly. You can only use Elmer's glue to hold fiber optics in place. If one uses any other glue it will ruin the filament.

If you hunt and shoot enough you will eventually need that 6th pin. Where we hunt here in the west "open country" it seems like those animals seem to know just how far....to just stay out of range. It is amazing just how accurate one can be from 70yds these days with the right setup and right arrows and broadheads. Never thought I would be advocating longer shots until I saw just what one can do with the newer technology setups.
