New arrow set up help

So last year I had leftover arrows from seasons before that i decided to run through my new Hoyt. I bought the QAD Ultra rest HDX and have had my blazers vanes rubbing the rest even after it has dropped. Other than having a possible tuning issue I have decided to make a switch in arrow setup to clear the rest and riser when I shoot. Last year i ran Rage 3 blades on a GT XT Hunter 5575 about 27" with blazer vanes. I had a hard time getting a good group at longer ranges (60-90 yards) with this set up and have heard that Rages will do that. My plan is to run a G5 Tekan 3 with the low profile Vanetecs to solve both the vanes hitting the riser and rest and my long distant groups. Anyone solve similar issues? How? Anyone run a similar set up? Like and dislikes? Thanks guys!

Me and every guy I shoot with shoot hdx rests. To me your bow isn't tuned right if your fetchings are hitting. So I would take it to a bow shop and have them tune it

Thats what i initally thought and i will try that but the vanes are just so large that they will brush by my window or the bar on the rest or the rest itself no matter how i adjust it...thanks for the reply.

I personally have never shot Rage before. But I shoot a mathews dxt set up with the the HDX rest with 27" carbon express maxima arrows with the small blazer vanes at 70 lbs. This last year I went with the G5 Tekan 3 expandables and I loved them. (I previously was using fixed broadheads.) I was able to keep my grouping about as good as my field tips at 100+ yards without re-tuning anything. I love the set up. I would imagine that rage should fly pretty well, which makes me think your bow needs to be tuned properly maybe? Hope your new set up works for you!

I Live For This

The problem is not your equipment. The arrows, vanes, rage, and rest should give you groups as good as anything. You have a tuning and/or set up issue.

Have you ever shot it threw paper? You definitely have a tuning issue and has nothing to do with vanes. What hoyt is it? The rest should be set and most of the tuning should be done threw the yokes. Then you can move the rest for ultra fine tuning. What is your bow, draw length, poundage, point weight, and length of arrow from carbon to carbon? This will help us see if your under spine or anything.

I have been shooting both. Either one has the same result...Ill have to get it tuned up again and check it out then.

Arrow spine should be good. I would definitely take it in and have them look at it. Something not right. Make sure you shoot you cocked vain consistent one direction. That way you can eliminate that variable
