Hi guys I have been wanting to hunt with bow for a while and this year im going to go for it except I don't know what brand of bow I want to get or what is the best. My buget for the bow is $500-$600 any help would be good.

New or used? Asking which is the best (hoyts) is like the old chevy, dodge, ford debate. Just got go drive ( shoot) them.

You need to get to an archery shop and get your draw length measured and figure out a bow poundage range that you can draw comfortably. Once you know those items you can start to shop new or preowned. Plenty of quality few year old complete package bows out there that can save you a ton of bucks. Do your homework::: Study up on quality accessories so when your shopping you know if the package your looking at has quality components or junk.

eBay has tons of dealers that stand behind their transaction as do other on line sights. Take your time and shoot a few bows....there like a good woman...each one feels a bit different and you will need to choose what's best for you :)

When choosing arrows spend the bucks and get the newer smaller diameter arrows, 2" Blazer vanes and smaller aero dynamic broadheads. The broadheads will shoot just like your field points and make tuning your bow and life much easier.

Good Luck,

Thanks for the advise I guess I will be heading to the archery shop in the coming days to get squared away for this season

To stay in your budget look at preowned bows and
Focus on a upper end bow that has adjustable draw length cams. That will give you more selections. Many make the mistake of going to strong a draw and fight trying to make it work. Then your not having fun and your shot groups suffer because you can't hold your pin on the target steady. Remember your game is not like a target. You will in many situations draw and hold for the shot waiting 30 seconds to a minute or more. You must be able to hold your draw that long as well as draw from a sitting position. If you can do that your draw weight is to much poundage IMHO and your quality of shot placement will suffer.

Good luck and stick a big one this season.
