I just recently purchased a Hoyt Charger. The advertised ATA FPS is 325. All I got was 296 from the chronogragh.
Draw length is 28.5"
Draw weight is 70 pounds
Arrows are gold tip hunter XTs / weight of arrow is 360 grains.
Distance from chronogragh was about 2 ft.
Ok, what is the X factor that I am overlooking?

if i were you, i'd contact hoyt themselves and talk to their technicians.they can tell you about distance from your chronographer and proper weights to shoot, good luck.

The X Factor is your draw length. ATA is measured at a 30 inch draw. Also ata is also measure with a 350 grain arrow. I typed in your specs with and you should be hitting 300 so your only 4 FPS under advertised sspecs. Is your limbs producing exactly 70 lbs? Is your bow properly tuned? Also which cams are you using? Being your 28.5 inch draw I think you could use number 2 or 3 cams. Number 2 cams in e slot you will get better speed but less let off and valley. Number 3 cams in A slot would be less speed but more let off and more valley. All and all your bow is very close advertised speed which is good compared to most bow companies these days.
