calculating shot window

So I am trying to figure out how to calculate my shot window if there are branches between me and my target. I am assuming that your nearest pin should tell you. For example, if the shot is 40,50 or 60 yards and there is a branch touching my 20 yard pin than I do not have a clear shot. My thinking is that the arrow should not rise above my top pin. Am I correct? I welcome any suggestions you guys may have.

Howdy 82ndreddevil,

One thing that might tell the tale is to go to your local pro-shop, and shoot on a large backstop at 20 yds. Put your target near the bottom, and centerpunch it using your 20 yd. pin. Then hold on the target and shoot with your other pins. You should have a "ladder" which will give you your mid-range trajectory for each pin at that distance.

This is probably overly simple, but should give an idea.

Not sure about the arrow not rising above your top pin comment. That will depend on your setup...

Regarding shot window: If you are shooting at a target 40 yards away and you see a limb close to 20 yards out, hold your 40 yard pin on target and simply observe what your 20 yard pin is 'aiming' at, etc etc. If your 20 yard pin misses the limb, you probably are good.
