Single pin sights

What are peoples thought on single pin sights for elk hunting? I changed to one this year just for the simple fact that it will force me to slow down and not rush things. So far really like the more open sight picture, especially at longer ranges. I chose an HHA 5019. The jury is still out though, real life hunting situation will tell the tale.

I read an article in Rokslide about someones take on single pins for hunting. His view was this. Sometimes you may range an animal, get set up for a shot, then the animal moves. Now you may have to range him again and change your pin setting. So you might be giving yourself more things to juggle with. Or you can get good and doing hold offs once you set your pin for a certain distance and the animal moves. I see his point as a valid one for me. However, there are tons of archers out there that get the job done with a single pin and would have a different view. If I can find that article ill post it for you later on today.

ive been shooting a single pin the last few years and love it. as you stated the sight picture is much larger and less crowded, im able to engage the target much faster also. i can dial to 40 leave it set there and shoot at 45 with minimal change. not enough to make a lot of difference.
i too shoot the HHA and i like it. its really durable and strong. big fan of the single pins. but to each his own.

I like my single pin because its supper bright, compared to my old 5 pin sight. There are pros and cons with both.
