poundage adjustment affecting accuracy

LAST EDITED ON Mar-16-15 AT 10:18PM (MST)[p]So my bow was shooting pretty dang good. I thought it would be worth it to lower the poundage just a hair in order for an easier draw. Now my arrow is hitting about 7 inches to the right at 50 yards. Could this all be from dropping the poundage by maybe a pound? I did take it out rabbit hunting the week before but it seemed to be shooting quite accurate out there. I actually got my first kill ever with a bow.

Every now and then when I start shooting really good I will eventually start picking up bad habits. Just stop what your doing, walk away and clear your head. I know sometimes when Im on a hot streak I may subconsciously develop a jerk or a tendency to rush a shot. So before we start checking timing, paper tuning and adjusting sights, set up a target at 20 yards and work on the day 1 basics. If your still having issues, get it checked, or maybe you'll find that you were temporarily suffering from cranial rectal inversion. It happens to all of us.

I agree with what red devil said.

I'll add to that by saying that with archery tackle you'll usually see changes in POI anytime you change something whether it's with your poundage, string, sights, release or FORM.

Over the years my biggest issue has been rushing the shot and jerking the release. Easy habit to acquire and difficult to master. This is usually exacerbated but shooting beyond fatigue.

Good luck and let us know what you figure out.

also you could have turned the bolts out so far on the bow the limbs are no longer supported properly and you are getting some tuning issues there. Some bows just don't have a good limb pocket that is conducive to being used unscrewed very far.

Still shooting to the right. I adjusted sights and doing better now. I got tired so I stopped shooting. I'm going to go out again today.
