Sitting here at the all day dance competition for my baby girl and thought I would share my opinion about some of the 2015 bows inbetween dances.
Let's face it, bows are pretty amazing these days, and there are very few that can't be shot fast and accurately. In my opinion you have to forget the name on the bow, shoot as many as you can, and buy the one that feels good to you. I shot the following bows side by side extensively for numerous days and this is what I found.
PSE Decree HD- Pro's: sweet grip, draw cycle is very smooth for a bow this fast, holds great, good wall, good speed. Con's- by far the most hand shock of any of the bows I shot.
Elite Energy 32- Pro's: nice grip, smooth draw, easy to shoot. Con's: nothing that stood out to me, nice shooting bow just wasn't blown away.
Prime- I did shoot this bow but not nearly as extensive as the other bows I shot. Seems like a nice setup, just never felt really comfortable to me.
Hoyt Carbon Spyder Turbo ZT- Pro's: like the wood grip, fairly smooth draw for a bow this fast, good wall, light, no hand hand shock, did I say fast. Probably the best all around hunting bow I shot. Con's: nothing major, finish is ok, for a 33" ata bow I felt like it felt more like a 31" bow string angle was pretty extreme. I bought one and it shot good, was getting decent groups out to 100 with field points and broadheads. Really nice bow.
Mathews no cam- Pro's: best draw cycle without question, 85% let off is a dream, good wall, holds good, no hand shock, quiet, easiest bow to shoot I have ever owned. Con's: well I keep hearing how slow it is, from my testing it's really not the case, speed wise in comparison Hoyt 310, Elite 292, PSE 302, Mathews 290. This is the bow I'm going to hunt with this year mainly becuase it is such a dream to shoot. Very pleased with the accuracy I am able to archive with this bow.
Well back to dance. Thankfully and The Lord willing in a couple months we will have more exciting things to talk about instead of Hoyt vs Mathews, draw odds, and what we think our big game herds should look like.
