So I saw this online the other day. I like the idea of having an alternate way to estimate range whenever you may not have the opprotunity to use the laser one. Has anyone ever used this thing? The biggest issue I see is the difference in size between a large elk and and medium sized elk. Any feedback will be appreciated.

I agree with you that there would likely be a lot off issues given the different sizes of elk we run into.

Can I ask how you carry your range finder? Maybe the better solution is to figure out how to deploy your range finder faster. I have always carried my range finder via bino-buddies. I can use my range finder in 1/5th the time that my hunting partners do. They are there fumbling for their range finders in the hip pouch or shirt pocket while I just grab mine and then drop it when I get my reading. I carry binoculars too by the way. They are in a badlands case. I just double up. The range finder rides high and tight on top of the binocular case since it is so light. This method has worked really well for me.
