In the past rifle seasons I always just carried a military issue poncho in my pack while elk hunting. I never really thought about it being noisy to move around in until this last archery elk hunt I had. I found that I could not draw back my bow quietly while wearing it, so I just took it off. I am in the market for some real rain gear before next season. My budget is limited, so no $500 suits. But I have no problem spending $100 or more for a top and bottom. Any recomendations?

I bought a pair of Helly Hanson Impertech this year and I stay very dry in a hard rain storm. They are close to your range, about $160.00 to $180.00 dollars but are great strong and quiet rain gear. If you plan to hike in them I wouldn't recommend it, they get hot and will make you sweat. But I used them for spot and stalks and they worked out great. Best set of rain gear I have found that didn't break the bank.

I agree. I bought some helly hansen for my alaska trip and was very happy with it. It is a little heavier but I have yet to see any "breathable" work for long especially if you are walking a lot of heavy brush. As for being hot it is but I don't think any more then the breathable stuff.
