Well I am getting older and its getting tougher every year to maintain my upper body strength......I think its time for me to do the dreaded thing I have been putting off the last couple years....at 66yrs old and a bit of lower back issues....I think its time for me to dial down my bow a bit......

So here's the question: ____how long can you hold your full draw? I need to get an idea from you guys as what you consider an acceptable draw time..30sec....45sec. 1 min. Or more......let me know your thoughts on this so I can make some adjustments to get dialed and start shooting for the 2016 season.....

I'll be 65 in May and I can still hold 60lbs for a minute or more with 75% letoff. Seems like 10 minutes when you are waiting for a turn or one more step.

Thanks for the reply...thats about where I am right now....60lbs. and 1min. Was thinking I needed to be at 11/2 - 2 min....I am hoping for more replys would like to know how long some of these studs can hold their draw....70-80 pound draws...

When I hunt Kansas I never stand up in my tree stand and so drawing my bow back is harder so I back the poundage down, that helps when you are holding to get your shot.

I think the first question is what is the let-off on your bow. Most all states now allow 80-85%, so that can make a huge difference. I have friends who say the efficiency is greater and noticeable that still swear by 65%, while others use 80%. I think the secret is proper tuning, and a 55-60# bow with 80% let-off is very holdable for 90 seconds. Small diameter carbons will fly right thru an elk at 60#!!!!!!
