Hey so I shoot a compound and I tried out my buddies recurve the other day and loved it. I'd like to get one of my own to play around with. I'll leave the elk and deer hunting with the compound. But I'd like to get a recurve for rabbits, grouse etc. I'm not in a position to pay out several hundred dollars for one either. What do you guys recommend?

A lot of guys go with the Samick Sage for a starter bow. I've never shot one or seen one, but Samick does make good olympic limbs so it should be a decent bow. Lancaster sells em for 140 bucks.

I have a custom Stalker recurve, love that bow!!

That said, I just bought a Samick Sage Deluxe for my fiance' and two young boys, with lighter limbs. It a lot nicer bow than the "origional" Sage!! Shots well and feels pretty good in hand. I think I will buy some heavier limbs for it to use as a backup hunting recurve. For the price these are very capable bows!!
