Toxic broad heads?

I've got a bear hunt coming up next month and was looking at the toxic broad heads. Anyone used them? They look wicked but maybe not really practical? Just wondering if anyone has tried them and had good or bad luck with them?

Hey, Twabis,

Have not shot the Toxic, but came across this video today testing the Toxic as well as a bunch of other heads. Just a heads up--the video gets a little heavy around the 7 min. mark.

Good luck on your hunt!

Thanks Pete! I was worried about the toxics not penetrating very well but was shocked at how well it did on the ballistic gel

Don't do it! I shot a small wild pig (150 ish lbs) and hit it a bit far back. My buddy shot a follow up shot at a hard quartering away angle (toxic broad head) and all of the blades fell out or broke off inside the hog. The next day he shot one and it looked like a great hit with a lot of blood. After a really long blood trail we lost it. Three days later he saw it in a heard and took it. The first shot did not penetrate the shoulder blade on a < 100 pound pig

It seems like people have really good experiences, or really bad experiences with Toxic's. I have heard some people saying they don't penetrate on Elk, but they mutilate a deer. So with a Bear.. I would assume that they would have a thicker hide, so I would be hesitant using them. Sweet looking broadhead though.

I would say these are great on fast, heavier draw weight bows, shot m y whitetail this year dropped him but no kill. In past same shot a muzzy KOA'd deer but due to shoulder injury and surgery I am at lightest legal draw weight. The jury is still out in my mind. RIP Lil Bro' "Huntnfever"

I would echo the lack of penetration comment. I guided elk hunters for several years and had one long time client bring them one year to try. Very good hunter, very good shot. He drilled a bull at 50 yds, absolutely center punched him. We looked for two days and never found a drop of blood.

My only experience with them.
