Best Flying Fixed blade?

Finally drew me a decent archery deer tag and I wanna make the switch from an expandable to a fixed. I currently shoot rage because they fly amazing out to 60+. So I was wondering what fixed blades are out there that would produce the same results?

I hear good things about G5 montech, muzzy trocar, and wac em broad heads?

Likely going to try them all but have any of you liked these heads?

oh and the reason I'm switching is because I didn't like the broadhead recovery from last year's speed goat. Only one of the blades opened. Luckily I stuck my pronghorn square in the ticker.

Magnus Stinger or a Cutthroat. Seriously though, if the bow is tuned and arrow spine is right, most coc heads will fly well.

I'm leaning towards the G5 montechs because I finally short them and with a little bit more tuning they should work. I do have worries about their sharpness though. Didn't seem to have that razor feel to them. Am I just over thinking it or am I not the only one who thinks this?

Also shot the wac em and wow they are sharp. I do think that the blades are a bit flimsy on them. I will run some tests to test their toughness but the sharpness is not a problem. Trocar is next!

LAST EDITED ON May-16-16 AT 07:19PM (MST)[p]While the G5 montec may not be as sharp as the razor blade type, they are very tough and, more importantly to me, they consistently fly very well. I attribute that to the tighter tolerance of the 1-piece design. Every broadhead in my quiver spins just as well as the next, and I've seen enough pass thrus on elk to be more than satisfied with their penetration.

Stinger BUZZCUTS here, never been disappointed with results.Just added a IDAHO blackbear to the list of animals taken with this broadhead. Will be looking to add a S.W. Desert bull elk to the "Buzzcut" list this Sept.... Bruce & Silvergrand

Another vote for G5 strikers, shot the montecs for a little while but personally like the strikers better. Sharper and can replace the blades.

I switched from Montecs to Ramcats last year. Way better performance, accuracy, and penetration in all of the testing I've been doing. Just another option.

Magnus Buzzcut Stingers , a complete pass through of 6'3" Idaho blackbear,TRY EM !!!

I do agree that magnus stingers and buzzcuts are a phenomenal killing broadhead on elk and bear, but I've not had them group as tight past 60 like the Ramcats do.

Anyone ever use the Magnus Black Hornets?

Remember seeing a post on here (thought it was on here at least) awhile ago when they were first released but haven't seen much on them since.

Application for me would be elk.

Shot some muzzy trocar deep six tonight out to 50 yards and all hit with my field points. Going to shoot them out to 100 in the next few weeks but so far they out shoot my slick tricks to 50.

>Check out shuttle ts they are
>super accurate and very durable.

2nded on both those, but I've not had great pass thru's on the animals I've shot past 30 yards - thinking the blade profile may slow it down significantly inside the animal?

Dido on the shuttle T's they are hands down the best fixed blade out there, and as for the expandable Ulmer edge is my choice. I've been using these two set ups way before Western Hunter started advertising the pair. So far 3 bulls 1 buck and 3 speed goats.
And another speed goat to come this year.(God willing)

I've shot the slick trick standard and magnums for lots of years they have shot very well even out to 80 yards and are very strong and sharp!

I have been shooting the Wac em's the last couple years. They fly just like my field points to 70 yards.

Killed both animals I have hit with them. Good Penetration.

TX_Diver I haven't shot anything with the magnus black hornets, but I've shot them out to a hundred yards with no problems along with muzzy's and, montec's

My best accuracy up until two years ago has been with the Montec. I use the CS version (carbon steel) because they are sharper and easier to sharpen than the stainless version, but they are prone to rust in rainy weather.

Two years ago I won a pack of Terminal T-Lok broadheads from Trophy Taker at my local archery club's annual banquet. I decided to give them a try.

Two words - scary accurate. I was shooting off of my rooftop to practice the downward angles of tree stand hunting. My Montec CS's were grouping around 2-3". I took 3 shots at 28 yards and all three arrows where within a circle covered by a fifty cent piece. In fact, I ruined one of the arrows (sliced the carbon the length of the arrow and cut off one of the vanes) and one of the broadheads (from running into the back of another broadhead in the same group. I quickly realized I'd have to shoot the arrows one at a time or pick different spots on the target for each shot. I know it has a lot to do with bow tuning, but these heads group tighter than my field points.

Needless to say, I highly recommend the Terminal T-Loks or Shuttle T-Loks for anybody looking for a durable, accurate broadhead.
